Thanks for having us!

Our Sales Manager, Craig Howard had a great time at this year's National Recruitment Federation Conference 2019 in Dublin, attending some brilliant talks and catching up with our partners, Bullhorn and Broadbean included. This is what he said about the event:

The conference provided me with a clear insight into the buoyant Irish recruitment market and gave me the opportunity to chat with clients, partners and prospects alike.

I enjoyed listening to some great speakers such as Economist and Broadcaster - David Williams, Technology specialist - Richard Boyd (Bullhorn), and a light-hearted but hard-fought debate by an expert panel on the relevance of a 360 recruiter.

The day was wrapped up with a great conversation between Journalist - Alison Comyn and rugby legend Brian Driscoll, discussing the highs and lows of the International Rugby stars career.

Everything you need to know

Date: 14th March 2019

Host: National Recruitment Federation

Location: The Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin

Agenda: Recruitment Industry Conference “The Future – Facing the Unknown” to address Changing Work, Full Employment and Labour Market Challenge

The rise of artificial intelligence, 21st century skills and work practices, employment legislation, and the opportunities and challenges of Brexit all feature on a packed conference agenda for Ireland’s recruitment professionals next month.

Taking place to a backdrop of full-employment and Brexit uncertainty, “The Future – Facing the Unknown” – the 2019 Annual Conference of the National Recruitment Federation is scheduled for Thursday 14th March next in the Clayton Burlington Hotel in Dublin 4.

Recruitment is a three billion euro industry in Ireland and HR and recruitment professionals from across the country will hear from conference speakers including economist David McWilliams, John McGrane, CEO of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, Paul Healy, Skillnet CEO, and Richard Boyd of Bullhorn, recruitment software specialists.

Rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll will line-out for an interview with conference MC, Alison Comyn, on his successful career in both sport and business.

And an expert panel will address the changing shape of work and employment, asking if employment regulation in Ireland is catching up?

Atypical Work

Increasing ‘atypical work’ is creating a more flexible labour market, sometimes dubbed the ‘gig economy’.  Research commissioned by the Workplace Relations Commission shows around 200,000 Irish workers are in temporary or other non-permanent employment arrangements.

Employers are recruiting on more flexible terms, often to encourage greater participation of women and older workers, particularly with labour shortages in certain sectors, NRF President Frank Farrelly says.

“There is an important question, however, around the levels of responsibility employers have for the workers’ wellbeing in a labour market that is moving from 9-5 full-time roles towards more part-time, contractor, agency and temporary roles.  Significantly, we need to ensure vulnerable workers are adequately protected in new types of employment”, the NRF President explains.

Industry specific topics will include a debate on future business scenarios for the recruitment sector, as well as insights on employer trends and preferences in recruitment.

Is dressing for success an outmoded concept?  Designer Sonya Lennon and her business partner, Brendan Courtney, will lead an interesting discussion on the influence of dress on perceived professionalism, and whether or not clothing can affect confidence, authority, trust and career progression?
