How to make the most of Twitter

Following on from our previous blog - The power of Facebook we're now going to take a look at how you can utilise Twitter to benefit your business.

Twitter has 330 million monthly active users and is one of the fastest ways for recruiters to communicate with their audience. Twitter is similar to Facebook in the way in which both personal and business opinions mix, therefore, it is important to get your tone right.

Quick top tips:

  • Create a username that brands your business

  • Keep it concise, even though the character limit has recently increased to 280, you should try to keep posts shorter than this where possible

  • Use hashtags but don’t abuse them, there is such a thing as overkill

  • Tag other businesses to encourage interaction

  • Follow industry leaders, candidates, influencers and companies and look at what they're posting for inspiration

  • Show your personality

  • Share your content more than once; Twitter is constantly being updated and your post can quickly become lost

  • Share a variety of content, don't stick to one theme as your followers will quickly become bored

  • Tweet when your followers are online. Our free guide to social media marketing further explores when you should be posting on Twitter

  • Engage with your audience- reply to comments and get involved in the online conversation

  • Avoid automated DMs

  • Publish your Twitter ID on all marketing material and put it in your email signature

  • Don’t make it all about you.
