Recruitment – To app or not to app?

In  this series of articles about Mobile Recruitment we have already revealed that there is a great demand for the use of mobile in recruitment. Today we are discussing the options for providing for that demand.

When looking to provide solutions for the recruitment market there are 2 options: -

  1. Developing a Mobile App that users can download to their phones or tablets.
  2. Building a responsive layout, crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience from desktop, tablets or mobile phones making it responsive across all devices.

So can you spot the difference between an app and a responsive layout and an app?

So what is responsive layout?

The technology is rather simple, using the latest HTML5 to provide an optimal viewing experience to allow for easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling which can apply across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones)

What about Mobile Applications

Also called mobile apps, it is a term used to describe Internet applications that run on smartphones and other mobile devices and are downloaded by customers from various mobile software distribution platforms.

Options for Recruitment

For new candidates it’s very unlikely that they would download an app from either Apple or Google so the effectiveness is very poor. In the contractor market an app is far more effective to allow contractors to submit timesheets or sign and review contracts.

For Candidate attraction our experience is that a responsive layout is the natural choice as there is no need to download an app.
